Guidance retreat for Sufi friends at the temple in Katwijk aan Zee

“Why is manifestation, although it is made of eternal life, yet subject to destruction? The answer is that the eternal life is the only life and this seeming life on earth is merely an assumption.” Hazrat Inayat Khan

In preparing for the retreat, we had observed a growing awareness in the collective consciousness of a felt sense that an era is coming to an end. Some individuals are attuned to this perception and are able to give it voice, asking: What does this mean?

It may sound like a cliché to say that all endings mark the beginning of something new, as such statements tend to remain within the same logic as the ending.

However, during the second half of our retreat day, as we engaged both individually and as a group in Active Imagination, something shifted. This technique, devised by C.G. Jung during his difficult period following his ending with Freud, opened a space where creativity sparked notions of something different, something truly unknown.

What it will become has yet to reveal itself — in its own good time, and in its own way.
