A group of legal women invited me to guide them through a retreat focusing on developing their female leadership qualities. To get away from the city and the major financial institutions where many of them work, the retreat was held in Upstate New York, at The Old Stone Farm. (http://www.oldstonefarm.org) The Farm oozed that special combination of simplicity and quality that creates a basis of tranquility and safety that is indispensible for any true reorientation to take place. Together, we witnessed how personal life experiences that were once felt to be tough can be turned around and be utilized as part of the very resources that enable leadership from a solid basis.
